Do’s & Don’ts: Study Permit Application

ree

DIY – do it yourself. Most applicants choose this option because of the technology we currently have. There is nothing wrong with doing it all by yourself, especially if your application is approved. There is a sense of accomplishment, and you deserve to have a pat on the back. But what if your application is refused or has a chance of being refused? Is it worth risking it without asking for help from the professionals?

Here's a clear and practical list of Do's and Don'ts for a Canadian Study Permit Application, based on the current rules and regulations in mind.

Do’s

  1. Select the program that best suits your personal profile.

  2. Check if your preferred institution is a DLI and meets the provincial requirements.

  3. You show genuine intent to study – be truthful and consistent.

  4. You must meet the financial proof requirements and submit complete, accurate documents.

  5. Seek professional help, especially when applying for visas and permits.

Don’ts.

  1. Don't ignore program relevance – it must align with your past education or work experiences.

  2. Don’t forget to understand the requirements, rules and regulations – this will save you time & money.

  3. Don't misrepresent or provide false documents – even minor mistakes can result in a 5-year ban from Canada.

  4. Don't underestimate the importance of proof of funds and submitting incomplete applications – this is one of the reasons why a visa officer may refuse an application.

  5. Don't panic if refused – you may need help and reapply with more substantial evidence.
